The SMARTFISH annual meeting was recently held in Bilbao, Spain, hosted by partner AZTI and it was a great success and a necessary few days of updating one another on progress, risks, opportunities and the discussing the path forward towards the innovative solutions for fisheries that the project is developing over the next three years. As known, this is an ambitious project that aims high and therefore has included the best partners throughout Europe to achieve this. The project has an established goal to “…optimize resource efficiency, improve automatic data collection for fish stock assessment, provide evidence of compliance with fishery regulations and reduce the ecological impact of the industry.” and the path towards this goal was discussed in detail during the meeting.

Thank you to AZTI for arranging this great annual meeting, including the General Assembly and Executive Board Meeting.

We look forward to meeting all of you again in Scotland or France next year!
